Is shabby chic furniture still very popular?

June 24, 2010 - 3:39 am 3 Comments

I like it and I’ve thought about finishing older furniture to sell. Do people still buy it as much as they used to?

I love shabby chic. I see it mostly around seaside homes and Cottage style, more relaxed and cozy. By Shabby Chic I am referring to vintage fabrics or florals, mixed seats with backs in different fabrics like a stripe with a floral in uphostery pieces. I love to mix in shabby chic furniture in country homes.

I say go for it. Market the seaside retreats.

Can I make a living in shabby chic trash to treasure crafts?

June 20, 2010 - 5:23 pm 4 Comments

I seem to have a very good eye and Im excellent with materials and tools. I know how to find find find.

Yes you can make a good living if you get on the circuit in the rural south. They are big on crafts and country and shabby chic and every single little town or wide spot in a road has a summer crafts fair and most places have buildings that run all year and if you get into a popular one of those, you can do pretty good.

how to redecorate a room with shabby chic style?

June 18, 2010 - 1:07 am 3 Comments

i always like redecorate my room, and i hate asking my parents to buy all this stuff, so how can i get an affordable shabby chic style bedroom including assecories like boxes and other stuff like that. thanx :)

I would shop yard sales and garage sales. You’ll be able to find furniture very cheap there.

Use your imagination when buying. You can always paint furniture, so color doesn’t matter.

If you paint, I suggest a "Crackle" paint. "Crackle" paint is a spray paint that crackles as it dries, so you get a really old look to it.

Would a shabby chic kitchen dresser look ok in my bedroom?

June 15, 2010 - 1:29 am 1 Comment

I have this gorgeous shabby chic cream dresser with little glass doors and shelves and its originally for a kitchen but i was thinking of putting it in my shabby chic/vintage style bedroom too add a bit of individuality, im in two minds though. I often get compliments on my taste and style with the way i decorate my home but i just wonder if it would look a little out of place or weird? :-)

Most people have no idea what those wonderful Hoosier cabinets are for. Go for it!

Does anyone know where I could get discounted Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic for less?

June 6, 2010 - 8:56 pm 1 Comment

I’m looking specifically for a duvet cover. Help, please! And, ideas for my new shabby room, types of flowers, etc. Thanks!

Ebay had TONS of shabby chic stuff……just type ’shabby chic’ into the search field. Also try searching under ‘country cottage’ and "astwell". You’ll find plenty.
